If you have contacted a printer for a quote explaining that you only have two colours on your document and they want to give you full colour prices, they are not necessarily trying to extract more money from you!
Spot colour printing used to be how things were printed, a spot colour is a colour that is either a pure pantone colour or a special mix to make a specific colour. Full colour print is a mixture of CMYK – cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Most presses use full colour printing because the technology behind it makes it cheaper as lots of jobs can be ‘ganged up’ on the same press bringing the cost down per individual product.
You can still have spot colour printing but just be prepared for the added cost that it involves (the press can only print your item on the press as it has a bespoke colour).
ALSO, don’t forget, with full colour print the sky is the limit!
