Have you ever asked for a print quote and the supplier has asked ‘what finish do you want?’
It’s not always an easy question to answer. Firstly let’s look at what finishing means and some of the ‘finishes’ that are on offer.
Finishing is generally used to refer to what happens to a printed item once it has been printed, this generally includes, cutting, folding, binding but can also include the lamination, foiling, embossing, debossing of course the type of finishing relates to what the product is.
If you are not sure ask yourself a few questions – what is the end product, who is going to receive it and how much do I want to spend on it in relation to what I will get back from it.
Next week we will look at finishing options for the not so humble business card.
